If you think you can’t eat sushi on a keto diet, think again: these keto sushi rolls are the perfect low carb meal to satisfy your Japanese food cravings.
For a long time, I thought following a ketogenic diet meant giving up on the foods I loved most.
Until I discovered Pinterest, and my whole (keto) life changed.
I’ve discovered that there are so many ways to “ketoptimize” meals you love, to make them keto-approved. That includes pizza, pasta, bread pancakes, and… sushi!
Without further ado, here are the best keto sushi recipes to stay in ketosis while enjoying some delicious Japanese food.

7. Cauliflower Keto Sushi
Full recipe here.
Let’s start this list with the most traditional keto sushi rolls. Made with “riced” cauliflower and cream cheese, these are by far the easiest and closest to the true sushi recipes.
Be sure to closely follow the instructions, as making sushi is really easy but you should not go too fast if you want to get the perfect texture.
6. Keto Sushi California Rolls
Full recipe here.
California rolls are the most popular sushi rolls on Earth (at least in this side of the Earth), and this is the perfect way to make them keto-approved.
Containing almost all the ingredients of traditional california rolls, these keto sushi are also made with cauliflower rice, albeit in a (very) different manner.
5. LCHF Sushi
Full recipe here.
This recipe is quite different from what you’re used to, as it uses smoked salmon instead of Nori, and doesn’t contain rice nor cauliflower!
You probably already have all the ingredients you need in your kitchen to make these, so no need to wait, you can make them today.
In short, they contain avocado, smoked salmon, cream cheese and some other ingredients. Check it out ;).
4. BLT Sushi
Full recipe here.
I’d be lying if I told you this is a Japanese sushi, but it is still very tasty!
A western version of this Japanese classic, these BLT sushi are made with bacon, tomatoes, romaine and other cool ingredients.
Definitely try it if you’re tired of regular Japanese sushi rolls.
3. Bacon Avocado Cucumber Sushi Rolls
Full recipe here.
BEWARE: these delicious sushi are NOT keto. I’ve included this recipe because I think they taste great, and you can simply change the rice (use cauliflower and cream cheese, using the other recipes above) to make it keto-approved.
This is a great way to have all the Japanese sushi flavors without all the bad carbs.
2. Vegan Rainbow Sushi
Full recipe here.
Again, please cut the rice out, and replace it with you-know-what.
These keto sushi rolls are great for vegan, vegetarian and people who simply don’t want to eat meat all the time (as we often do on the keto diet). I found the photo particularly convincing, so I gave them a shot and I was pleasantly surprised.
They’re more elaborate than the classic rice + cucumber or rice + avocado, so you should give them a try if you want to taste new flavors.
1. Sushi Burritos
Full recipe here.
If you’ve ever made sushi rolls, you know they take quite some time to make. And although that doesn’t stop me from making regular keto sushi, sometimes I’m just looking for something I can do much quicker, which would really fill me up.
These are part burritos and part sushi rolls, which means you can make them much faster and actually be full, not like all those times you went to a Japanese restaurant and had to leave with your belly half empty.
The ingredients are very different from what you might expect to find in a sushi recipe, but they’re definitely worth a shot.
Oh, and don’t forget to replace the rice!
That’s it! Feel free to Pin It so you can come back later and make these delicious sushi rolls.
